It is said that if someone wants to know a reason behind the “tastefulness” of a fruit, he might check the roots of the tree from which it came into being! Long ago scientists, philosophers, poets, artists, realised that travelling from one place to another was very essential. The exposure that they got by doing so, enhanced their knowledge and understanding of the world, how it was in real! A person with complete knowledge would not wait for someone to plant a tree so that he could taste its fruits, he would rather spend time in planting one and maintaining it, watering it and watch it during every season, water it, give it the essential amount of sunlight that is needed for its roots to burgeon, so when it gives its first fruit, it tastes to everyone just in the manner one wants!
Market research industry is such a fruit which has its roots long back in the history. Pythagoras: the world knows him for one of his finest theorems in history which meant to ease the distance involved in the travelling, which could be curtailed. He travelled from place to place to gather the knowledge which others had and share the knowledge that he had gained. A very less amount of people also know him for his contribution in field of music which are described as the intersection of two legendary fields, namely, Mathematics and Music. Market Research is meant for two things:
- Gaining the exposure of the knowledge which others possess.
- Sharing the knowledge that you possess.
The third thing which can also be attributed to market research is the burgeoning of one’s own knowledge which he gains after the completion of his study. This term i.e. market research; might be said to have been coined in modern times but one may know, how it was done since time itself came into being. It is just the familiarity of the term bettered with times and today there is no industry in which it is not being practised.
Global exposure is at one’s fingers tips: Ethnography, Focused Group Discussion, Brainstorming, Computer Aided Telephonic Interviews, Web Panels, Personal Interviews and many other research methods have come into existence, just for one simple reason i.e. people have grown and bettered their understanding. This change was only possible due to one word and this is “Knowledge” which was available in its very true form and was made available to people and this change is still growing. The line of difference between any two gaps is made thinner and thinner and in some cases it’s almost made equal.
One such equality is what I would like to talk about this week especially because the world celebrated Women’s day last week and the United Nation’s Theme for this year’s Women’s day was “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.” IBI had its own way of celebrating the same. The pictures could be of help to understand the affable character its employees possessed!
The pictures could be of help to understand the co-ordination its employees possessed!
So, with not only enjoying the taste but also going behind the roots as a reason; thinning down the line of difference and making it equal are past week’s notes; hope that makes the music that we hear in the next week euphonious!
